Message from District 10 Governor Donna Dodgen
District 10 Zontians
The 66th District 10 Conference at South Padre Island, Texas hosted by the Zonta Club of West Hidalgo County is upon us! Make plans now to attend October 17-20, 2013. The District 10 website has information including the call to conference, so be sure and take a look! Each conference is unique and this year is no exception as we are including a District service project, the availability of wearing jeans for Zonta dollars, the popular networking corner, a surprise District pin, and exploring the possibility of recording oral Zonta stories/history! The Call to Conference was sent out to the club presidents and via Constant Contact (like our newsletter) as well as posted on the District 10 website. So, no excuse!
Just a little tidbit as to why I chose this location for the District Conference. I began my Zonta leadership journey in South Padre Island with Mary Brower as conference Chairman, Candi Ward as Governor and the abundant memories of that conference are filled with fun, laughter and awe…it made a lasting impression and I wanted to round out my leadership journey there. Full circle so to speak!
I know I keep saying this but remember that our District newsletter is a work in process and with this publishing we are once again using the format of a general information newsletter with links for club information as well as setting limits for articles, pictures and number of stories per club. This is an attempt to keep our newsletter a quick informative read. The newsletter will be published in the months of February, May, August, and November to include information from the three months previous to the publication as well as any information you'd like to share with the District that is upcoming such as events, projects, happenings etc..
The recent ZI newsletter included a picture of a Johnson County Zonta Club service project….WAY TO GO! It is easy to upload to ZI and we can all do this. Remember we have two opportunities to promote our local service projects through the Zonta Says NO campaign and our Zonta Service Recognition Award. We are all doing great things in service so showcase your time and energy through the Zonta Service Recognition award. Highlighting what we do locally raises the visibility of your club and assists with membership recruitment and retention. Nominations are due to me the Governor by midnight December 30th, 2013 with the best service projects being exhibited and recognized at the 2014 Orlando convention. I encourage you to visit the Zonta Says NO website or Facebook page and highlight or upload a story.
Currently, I am serving on a ZI membership task force and helped develop the membership survey that you have been asked to complete. I encourage you to do so! ZI offered another webinar and will continue to do so. District 10 was represented at the North American Inter-District Summit by at least 10 Zontians. We made a good showing and were heavily involved. Recently, I participated in a Governor's conference call focusing on our upcoming District Conferences, ZI convention information, the new membership survey, and other items.
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our conference and having my Zonta cup filled. It is one of the many things I love about this organization! Remember, all of us on the District 10 board are here for you and your club!
Thank you all for your service!
