Governor's Quarterly Message
Season’s Greetings Zontians! Since our last newsletter, District 10 had another wonderful conference. What a great event! Big thanks to Conference Chairman, Kim Vann! What a great job! We realize it takes many people to orchestrate a conference so big thanks also to the Zonta Club of Fort Smith! Key people spent many hours along with Kim, and co-chair, Sheryl Flanagin to ensure we had a successful conference. It is always such a wonderful experience to enjoy the fellowship of other Zontians while learning more about our mission and the effectiveness of our service projects. It was a special treat to meet our International Representative, Sonja Honig-Schough, who provided information from Headquarters to include President Dianne Curtis’ message, positive feedback as well as inspiration. Also what a special treat for ZI Amelia Earhart chairman, Dr Sharon Langenbeck and six AE Fellows to be in attendance!
The election of District 10 officers for 2012-2014 biennium is one of the significant highlights of the conference. Our district is in very good hands with the continued leadership that was elected. I’m sure each of you joins me in looking forward to the great accomplishments that will follow.
The 61st Zonta International Convention is 7-12 July 2012 in Torino, Italy. The Call to Convention has been posted on the website and details are also included in the October Zontian magazine. Hope to see a large District 10 contingency in Torino! District meetings are scheduled the morning of July 7th so please make plans to arrive early enough to attend. We will be scheduling a time for a District 10 photo by the official convention photographer, date to be published later. If you need a roommate, please let board members know, there may be others also looking for a roommate! Registration opens July 5th.
I hope all of you experienced a great Thanksgiving with family and friends as we transitioned from a very hot, dry summer to fall. The fall seemed very short-lived as we have begun the transition to shorter days and winter weather. Wishing all of you a wonderful Holiday season as we celebrate the ending of 2011 and bring in the New Year, 2012!
Happy Holidays!
Yours in Zonta Service,
Janis
